Sr. Manager Direct Services
Time Commitment: Full Time (40 hours/week)
Compensation: $71,500 plus benefits
Location: This hybrid post is primarily virtual with 8-10 in-person annual events in Chicago, IL. You may also represent Lighthouse Foundation at a few external partner events each year.
The Organization:
Lighthouse Foundation of Chicagoland is a Black LGBTQ+-led, multiracial social justice organization that advances justice for Black LGBTQ+ people across Chicagoland through empowerment, education, and entertainment. Since July 2019, Lighthouse Foundation has launched the nation's first equity index centered on Black LGBTQ+ people, the Lighthouse Foundation Equity Index (Equity Index), partnered with 31 organizations, and hosted 87 activations with 4,300 Chicagoans.
The Role:
The Senior Manager of Direct Services reports to the Executive Director and the Director of Strategy. This position is responsible for overseeing the organization’s direct services and managing the contractors who deliver them. Services fall into two primary areas:
Healthcare Services: HIV/AIDS and STI screening, linkage to care, and vaccinations (including Mpox). The Senior Manager will oversee a contracted nurse who delivers these services at major events and through 1:1 appointments at our office space.
Workforce Development: Job search navigation, resume support, job placement, upskilling, and job retention. The Senior Manager will deliver select services directly while supervising a contracted Workforce Development Specialist who will deliver others. This position also serves as Program Coordinator for the ICIJA Youth Workforce Development Program.
This position focuses on contractor management, community partnerships, and ensuring participants are effectively linked to internal and external services. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in public health, workforce development, and program management.
Responsibilities:
Community Engagement and Outreach (35%)
Build and maintain relationships with Black LGBTQ+ community members
Cultivate and steward partnerships with community organizations, healthcare providers, and key stakeholders to enhance service delivery and impact
Maintain a comprehensive, up-to-date compendium of partner services and resources; regularly engage partner liaisons to ensure accurate information
Lead targeted outreach and education campaigns on HIV, Mpox, PrEP, Doxy-PEP, and other treatment/prevention options
Organize and participate in community events, workshops, and trainings to promote Lighthouse Foundation services
Lead program participant-centered advocacy and support
Represent the organization at external events, with partners, funders, and media
Increase enrollment and participation in the ICIJA Youth Workforce Development Program through outreach and tabling
Program Development and Implementation (35%)
Design, implement, and manage high-impact initiatives to increase HIV testing and MPox vaccinations, accelerate linkage to care, and improve retention in care for Lighthouse Foundation program participants, which centers Black LGBTQ+ individuals
Lead the integration of status-neutral linkage-to-care protocols across all workforce development and youth programs to ensure seamless, participant-centered support
Strengthen our organization’s Community Advisory Board (CAB) by co-developing strategic programming, recruitment strategies, and leadership training that equips CAB members to meaningfully address healthcare challenges (HIV/MPox) and economic insecurity, which disproportionately affect Black LGBTQ+ communities
Build and maintain strategic partnerships with healthcare providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers, city, county, and state health departments, and community-based organizations to ensure coordinated, comprehensive, and culturally competent care for program participants
Plan, implement, and evaluate 7–9 high-quality community events annually that deliver direct services (HIV testing and MPox vaccinations, linkage to care, workforce development resources, etc.) in partnership with the Community Advisory Board and other collaborators; track reach, service uptake, and participant outcomes for each event
Collaborate with ICIJA Program youth leaders to design and continuously improve evidence-based curricula for the ICIJA Youth Workforce Development Program, integrating HIV/STI prevention, leadership development, and life skills tailored to Black LGBTQ+ youth
Co-facilitate monthly programming for the ICIJA Youth Workforce Development Program, ensuring high engagement, skill-building, and integration of health equity and prevention content
Relationship Management (15%)
Develop and deliver training for staff/contractors on best practices for screening and linkage to care
Oversee contractor and vendor relationships, including contract management, performance monitoring, and adherence to deliverables
Coordinate with the Community Advisory Board, staff, and contractors on project timelines, logistics, and priorities
Data Collection and Evaluation (15%)
Develop and maintain robust systems for tracking program outcomes, including screening, linkage to care, and treatment initiation rates, in partnership with the Director of Strategy and the Senior Manager of Research & Evaluation.
Analyze data to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders, funders, and the public on program successes and challenges.
Stay informed about local, county, state, and national public health policies and trends related to HIV and MPox.
Coordinate with the Senior Consultant of Research and Evaluation to ensure details for the ICIJA Youth Development program are being tracked.
Job Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Nursing, Education, Human Resources Development, or a related field, or 5+ years of experience without a degree.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in program management, public health, or a related field, with a focus on HIV/AIDS prevention and linkage to care.
Strong project and people management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple contractors and tasks effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in data analysis, program evaluation, and outcome tracking.
Cultural competence and experience working with Black LGBTQ+ communities.
Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
Preferred
Certification in HIV testing and counseling (or willingness to obtain).
Experience in youth workforce development or curriculum design.
Previous work in nonprofit or community-based organizations.
