The Arts
The arts are an integral medium of self-care, healing, and justice, which is why we’re committed to infusing them throughout our work and celebrating them within Black, LGBTQ+ communities. Our focus on the arts is a crucial part of what sets us apart and helps draw in our community to get involved. In making a space for the arts, we are committing to nourishing a distinctively Black and LGBTQ+ organizational and community culture.
Voices of Light
Our signature art program is Voices of Light (VOL), a collective of musical performers that celebrate Black LGBTQ+ talent, resilience, and joy. VOL provides artistic and professional development opportunities while paying Black LGBTQ+ artists a thriving wage.
Arts Programming
Our Black LGBT(Q)+ Caucus meets monthly to plan a variety of free programming for our community, including many art-focused events. Previous arts programs have included trips to Black LGBTQ+ theater productions, healing arts workshops, and a reading circle featuring books by Black LGBTQ+ authors.
