Spiritual Wellness
Spiritual Wellness
Spiritual Wellness is about connection—to ourselves, each other, and something more significant than systems designed to isolate and erase us. For Black LGBTQ+ people, disconnection from spirit and community is not a personal shortcoming—it’s the result of generations of systemic harm: exclusion from faith institutions, cultural erasure, and the criminalization of our identities.
Our approach to spiritual wellness creates space to reconnect, reflect, and heal. We build practices that support mental health, affirm who we are, and make room for joy, rest, and radical imagination. Spiritual wellness isn't about doctrine—it’s about reclaiming power, restoring belonging, and honoring the sacred within and around us.
We focus on:
Community Connection – Facilitating intergenerational, affirming spaces that reduce isolation and deepen belonging.
Healing Religious Trauma – Naming and transforming the harm caused by faith-based rejection while nurturing new and ancestral spiritual practices.
Mental Health Support – Embedding reflection, emotional well-being, and care into every aspect of our work, recognizing that thriving includes our inner lives.
Coalition of Accomplices for Racial Equity (CARE)
CARE is a multiracial, faith-rooted organizing coalition advancing Black LGBTQ+ liberation. We bring together faith leaders, nonprofit professionals, and LGBTQ+ allies for racial and gender justice organizing. CARE offers legislative advocacy training, racial justice education, and coalition-building opportunities that connect spiritual values with collective action.

Public Theology in Action
Public Theology in Action is a visionary initiative that reclaims Black Queer spirituality as a tool for justice, healing, and national transformation. Led by Rev. Jamie Frazier, Public Theology in Action challenges Christian nationalism and uplifts the liberatory traditions of Black LGBTQ+ communities through live events, digital storytelling, and a forthcoming National Convening. The Public Theology in Action initiative expands on who participates in public theology and how faith can move people toward inclusion, equity, and democracy.
Black LGBTQ+ Caucus (BQC)
Spiritual wellness shows up in everyday community care. Through joy-centered events and healing-centered spaces, BQC offers opportunities for Black LGBTQ+ people to gather, rest, and reconnect with themselves and each other. From Pride Skate Party to Self-Care Recharge, these moments create space for reflection, celebration, and affirmation — fostering spiritual wellness through collective joy, belonging, and radical love.
Spiritual wellness is embedded in everything we do—from community gatherings to advocacy to leadership development. It is not an add-on. It is a foundation. Through this work, we create space for our people to be seen, held, and empowered—body, mind, and spirit.
