Meet CARE

  • CARE (Coalition of Accomplices for Racial Equity) is a coalition of accomplices and Black LGBTQ+ people who support Black Queer liberation through inspiration, collaboration, and celebration.

    • CARE inspires participants to be active in the work of Black LGBTQ+ liberation

    • CARE collaborates on the BQEI through hosting programs for accomplices at BQEI participating organizations, thereby strengthening workplace support for Black LGBTQ+ employees and board members.

    • CARE celebrates the work of Black LGBTQ+ people through events it hosts and by volunteering for Black LGBT(Q)+ Caucus events.

  • Anyone committed to the pursuit of justice for Black LGBTQ+ people is invited to join. This includes non-Black and non-LGBTQ+ folks. CARE is open to both individuals and faith communities.

  • Faith Communities
CARE requires all faith communities that join our organization to codify a statement of affirmation to the LGBTQ+ community and to extend the same rights and privileges to the LGBTQ+ members as those extended to the other members. It is impossible to challenge folks in the public square when one has not first done their work at home.

    Individuals
CARE provides an opportunity for individuals passionate about pursuing racial justice within the LGBTQ+ community as well as beyond it. We have two sets of programming that CARE members can join. CARE has monthly meetings on second Saturdays, and these meetings are virtual. CARE will also help volunteer and serve at 3-4 programs sponsored by the Lighthouse Foundation that will occur in the City of Chicago. Through CARE, justice is sought, change is made, and friendships are built.

  • Fill out the interest form below and our CARE Liason/Manager of Organizing will reach out to you with more details.

  • Individuals
Individuals are encouraged to give 1% of their monthly net income.

    Faith Communities
Faith communities are encouraged to make an annual membership commitment of 0.5 - 1% of their general operation budget

CARE Revival Churches

Revival is a multi-denominational cohort of churches that have actively engaged in Coalition of Accomplices for Racial Equity (CARE) over the past three years by participating in anti-racism training, driving turn out to protests, and supporting the Black Queer Equity Index. Through participating in Revival, they will collaborate to deepen their congregational practices of anti-racism, create LGBTQ+ affirming resources, and drive public discourse that uses an intersectional Christian lens to promote Black LGBTQ+ liberation.

Revival Goals:

1) Increased Understanding of Anti-Racism

2) Develop and share Christian Social Justice Tools

3) Promote Intersectional Public Conversations

4) Strengthen Interdenomonational Relationships and Resource Sharing

The Revival cohort is led by Lighthouse Foundation staff with the support of clergy from Christian faith communities:
