Brand and Digital Media Contractor
Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week
Compensation: $50 per hour
The Organization
Lighthouse Foundation of Chicagoland is a Black LGBTQ+-led, multiracial social justice organization that advances justice for Black LGBTQ+ people across Chicagoland through empowerment, education, and entertainment. Since July 2019, Lighthouse Foundation has launched the nation’s first Black Queer Equity Index, partnered with 24 organizations, and hosted 140+ activations with 1,600+ Individuals.
The Role
Lighthouse Foundation seeks a Brand & Digital Media Contractor. We desire a creative, strategic, and highly organized professional to build and manage the personal brand of a nonprofit leader. This role will be responsible for shaping the leader’s public voice and digital presence, launching and maintaining a website and podcast, and managing social media channels to amplify mission, thought leadership, and impact.
This position is ideal for someone who understands storytelling, digital platforms, and nonprofit values, and who can translate a leader’s vision into compelling content across multiple channels.
This person will also support the organization’s digital presence..
The ideal candidate is an adaptive self-starter who enjoys working as part of a team and is growth-oriented. This part-time contract role will average 20- 25 hours per week. It is primarily a remote position with some in-person requirements in the Chicagoland area. Organizational Communications & Digital Presence (40%)
Write engaging social media content, for Lighthouse Foundation’s social media mediums (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok).
Manage and update the Lighthouse Foundation website with new content, events, and news.
Assist with press and media outreach to increase visibility and engagement.
Provide on-site communications support at Lighthouse Foundation events.
Support for the Executive Director (60%)
Maintain the Executive Director’s social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn,andTikTok).
Develop and manage a monthly e-newsletter from the Executive Director.
Support the launch of a podcast for Executive Director alongside a team of podcast contractors by writing content and selecting clips
Attend Lighthouse Foundation and external events with the Executive Director to capture photos and videos for social media and a podcast .
Draft and edit speeches and talking points.
Support media outreach and press engagements as needed.
Requirements
Live in the Chicagoland area
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or 5+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably for a nonprofit focusing on racial justice, HIV, or LGBTQ+ issues.
Experience in developing and executing marketing, communication, and content strategies for an organizational leader and thought leader
Excellent messaging, storytelling, writing, photography, videography, and editing skills.
Extensive experience in managing a website,social media content management , and social media analytics a plusProactive, detail-oriented, and solution-oriented
