Mind Over Matters: Black Queer Men Mental Health Conversations
Time & Location
About the Event
Join Lighthouse along with two licensed therapists as we discuss the unique mental health struggles Black Queer men face.
Everyone is welcome to attend regardless of gender identity or race, but this conversation will center and be solely dedicated to Black trans, cis, and gender-nonconforming men.
Our featured Black Queer therapists include Shara Dyson and Doc Murdock.
Shara is a graduate student in the Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision from Northern Illinois University, in DeKalb, Illinois. She has worked in a four-year college and community college settings with adults with a range of academic, interpersonal, and wellness concerns.
Doc uses a strength-based approach to foster collaborative relationships with their clients. They're interested in deconstructing gender role expectations and working with their clients to align their life goals with one's that affirm value systems that lead to empowerment and lasting change
